Barbera d'Asti DOCG

Azienda Agricola Tenuta Capri

The vines from which this Barbera d'Asti DOCG is produced are planted on limestone soil with clay grains. Selected grapes are harvested from the second half of September when they reach the correct ripening. After crushing, fermentation in stainless steel tank follows, macerating from 5 to 7 days for the best colour and structure extraction. The malolactic fermentation follows spontaneously. The wine is aged in steel for six months, continuing the refinement for a minimum of six months in an oak barrel, then stored for another six months in the cellar before consumption.

Region

Piedmont

Piedmont is in Italy's northwest and borders Switzerland and France. True to the meaning of its name (foot of the mountain), Piedmont is a land of mountains. It is surrounded on three sides by the Alps, with the highest peaks and largest glaciers in Italy. The most typical specialties of the regional cuisine are fondue and bagna cauda: two warm and out-of-this-world dips that celebrate the Alba white truffle and raw vegetables. Some of the many excellent dishes include the great mixed fry, braised beef in Barolo wine, civet of hare and a wide array of cheeses: toma, robiola, bruss from the Langhe, gorgonzola from Novara, and sernium from Biella.

Producer

Azienda Agricola Tenuta Capri

Tenuta Capri is located at the centre of Monferrato Astigiano area in Piedmont, listed as Unesco World Heritage Site. Its story began in the 20th century, when grandpa Bernardo started the cultivation of vineyards, even though the production of wine was destined only for the family and friends’ consumption. In the '80s, his son Pierluigi Bruno, a great passionate of the agricultural and wine industry, began his winemaking career. The family still supervises the entire winemaking process, from vine growing and vinification to bottling and direct sale of the products.
