In the heart of Oltrepò Pavese the Rebasti family has founded a company based on the peculiarity of a unique and extraordinary territory. The history of the Rebasti family goes back to the end of 1800, when Pietro Rebasti started cultivating vines and producing wine on a small hill in the municipality of Montescano, part of the kingdom of Italy. This passion for viticulture was handed down from father to son until the 1970’s when Ermanno Rebasti, current owner of the farm, personally entered the vineyard and cellar with the clear will to continue with the family’s philosophy and values, first of all the maintenance of a strong and respectful link with the territory, which allows to conciliate and express to the best that character and expressiveness that make still today the farm’s wines uniques.
The future at Poggio Rebasti is all “pink”: the three daughters have inherited their father’s love for its own land and a strong bond with family traditions. Cristina, Valentina and Martina intend to continue and develop the project their great-great-grandfather Pietro begun at the end of 1800’s.
Poggio Rebasti seeks excellence, day after day, through the care of details in the vineyard, in the cellar and in the relationship with the environment. The pourpose of the Rebasti family is to produce wines able to express and exalt the natural peculiarity of the vines. A limited production, which recognizes quality as a unique value and that expresses in every single bottle scent and taste of tradition and experience gained over the years by the skillful farmers and winemakers Rebasti.

Poggio Rebasti wines originate by a close cooperation between hard work in the vineyard and accurate job in the cellar. All the interventions carried out in the vineyard are aimed to the utmost respect for the local ecosystem and finalized to a low environmental impact agriculture and personally done by the family itself. The Rebasti company have chosen to adopt a low impact agricultural production method: integrated agriculture.
The Poggio Rebasti vineyard are particularly suited for the growing of the traditional black berries grapes of the Oltrepò, such as Barbera, Croatina, Uva rara and Vespolina. The terroir of the hill where the farm lies is mainly sandstone, peculiarity that allows it to remain dry by avoiding water stagnation, the altitude is 250 meters above sea level, the slope is high, the mostly south exposure makes these very sunny territories, the microclimate characterized by strong thermal excursions with very high summer temperature and accentuated winter minimum, average rainfall. The vine training system used by the Rebasti Company is the simple Guyot with only one cane and with a maximum of 12 gems. The plant density is on average 4000 stumps per hectare.
Harvesting, to which takes parts all the Rebasti family is rigorously by hand and in basket, with an accurate selection of bunches to preserve the maximum integrity of grapes and vine. The harvest time varies by the end of September and the beginning of October, according to the seasonal trend and the vineyard exposure.
Work in the vineyard is completed with a careful processing in the cellar, carried out personally by the Rebasti family. Peculiarity of the wine making of the Poggio Rebasti farm is the completely natural fermentation. The historical ageing cellar, is the one used by the company founder at the end of 1800’s. A small jewel completely underground, characterized by a natural and constant moisture throughout the year.
