From the Oltrepò Pavese to the Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships, Blanc the Blancs Brut produced by Tenuta Scarpa Colombi confirms its success and reaches the highest step of the podium during the great event that rewards annually the best “sparkling wines”- classic method and charmat.
The Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships (CSWWC) is an international wine competition organized by the British wine writer Tom Stevenson. Every year the event brings together experts and wine tasters with the responsibility to judge and appoint prestigious rewards to wines produced anywhere on the planet. The renowned Champagne and sparkling wines specialists Essi Avellan and Doc Tony Jordan were the special jurors for the 2015 edition of the championships. Main aim of the festival is to supply consumers and experts in the field with the guidebook of the best Champagne and sparkling wines in the world.
With 113 new producers and a 37.5% increase in the number of countries represented, the CSWWC 2015 has seen 36% more medal-winning wines.
Blanc de Blancs Brut is one of the most important products of the winery “Tenuta Scarpa Colombi”, located in Pavia in the Lombardia region. It is a white, dry, sparkling wine. This VSQ (Vino Spumante di Qualità – Quality Sparkling Wine) is produced exclusively with Chardonnay grapes, cultivated on hills characterized by a soil mix rich in calcareous and clay sediments, slightly sandy, at an elevation of 200 meters and facing the north-west direction.
The soil, the microclimate, the annual harvesting in baskets, the fast delivery of the grapes to the cellar and soft grape pressing procedure are only a few of the factors that contribute to creating its high quality. A careful preparation of the wine and the further 36- month long second fermentation in bottles complete the production of this unique wine.
Tenuta Scarpa Colombi is an Italian winery located in Lombardia, with 36 hectares of vineyards on which is erected one of the most beautiful buildings in the Oltrepò Pavese area: “Palazzo Scarpa-Colombi”.
A recent and accurate renovation has made this house a real masterwork, bringing brilliance to a territory already rich in history, culture and gorgeous vineyards. The inner courtyard well represents the Italian 18th-century architecture, while the big degustation room has the responsibility to receive visitors in a suggestive and traditional ambiance that is perfect for tasting appointments, conferences, and high-society events.
